Drawing from the story of the matriarch Rachel;  Emanu  explores my relationship with Judaism and gender.  It is often women who preserve history and uphold cultural identity.  Emanu  engages with different approaches to gendered roles. Participating in women-dominated spaces and religious rituals highlights the importance of women as spiritual beings affirming alternative approaches and coping strategies to life as a woman confronted by the violence of a male-dominated society.
